Our West Midlands office in Redditch have just been appointed by Ten Property Management on the conversion of the WW2 watchtower at Rissington Airfield.

Working alongside architect Ian Guest Associates, Salus will undertake the comprehensive building control management that will see the derelict building converted into a modern 3 storey 5 bedroom dwelling complete with a top floor viewing gallery, roof terrace and balcony.

The building was originally constructed in 1938 just north of the former RAF Little Rissington runways and boasts prominent views of the airfields. The base, constructed during the re-armament era served as a flying training school and maintenance unit and also housed its own fighter force for several spitfires. Throughout the 1980s, the airfield was also used by the US Airforce Europe as a military contingency hospital in case of hostilities in Eastern Europe.

The new dwelling will be the latest addition to an area which is already home to many redeveloped former MOD buildings.

The refurbishment has been designed to significantly enhance the visual character of the Watchtower and bring it back into active use whilst still respecting and retaining its original form and character. The footprint and volume of the building will remain the same with the addition of an attached garage with annex.
