Salus Registered Building Control Approvers, North West Office based in Birkenhead, are celebrating their involvement with Owen Ellis Architects’ CEEQUAL award-winning development of Merseyrail’s Ainsdale Station.
The development incorporated a ticket office, waiting facilities, booking concourse, passenger DDA toilet facilities, a new car park and wider general improvements. As part of the National Rail network, building works on their operational estate are exempt from seeking building regulations approval however compliance with these national standards is still required by the rail authority. Salus were part of a multi-disciplinary design team working very closely with the architects to give expert advice on building regulations throughout the lifetime of the project.

The development, in the heart of the local community, is the most ecologically friendly station on the whole of the Merseyrail network and achieved a ‘Excellent’ rating for the CEEQUAL Sustainability Performance Assessment at both the design and consultation stages and was the sole winner of the Communities and Stakeholder Award at the recent gala dinner in London earlier this year.
