Project Description

Salus Approved Inspectors were appointed by Stephen George and Partners to provide building control for the construction of units 1 & 2 of the new Watermead Business Park, Leicester’s latest class A office space ideally located fronting the A607 at its junction with A46.

The 3 storey units boast a combined 34,270 sq ft of office space and are some of the first buildings to be constructed under the business parks office scheme. The overall scheme is the first speculative out of town office development of more than 10,000 sq ft in Leicestershire for over 10 years, so represents a significate moment for the office market within the region. Salus attended early meetings with the architects and worked closely with the fire officers, which allowed for a suitable fire strategy to be quickly developed.

Further into the life of the project, close to completion, changes in the service provision meant that the fire strategy adopted early on was amended to accommodate and remain compliant. Hands on and flexible in our approach we were on hand to allow a tailored and cost effective solution to be quickly developed that did not impact on the programme.

As with many of our projects, to ensure and allow the contractor to meet their professional corporation deadline we provided a tracking schedule for the documents we needed and regularly attended site at critical times to help ensure that there were no last minute items left to be completed which may have caused delay.
