Salus appointed to Liver Building refubishment.

Salus have been appointed by Claremont Group Interiors to undertake building control services on the latest phase of the multi-million pound internal upgrade of Liverpool’s most iconic building with the exciting addition of more office space by the construction of a mezzanine level.

The initial makeover of the Grade I listed building’s interior began back in 2008 when the Royal Liver Group appointed Claremont to modernize the central common areas on the 1st through to the 9th floors.

Salus provided the building control then, ensuring the upgrade met the required aspects of Building Regulations whilst striking a balance of compliance with sensitivity given the special character and interest of such a World Heritage site.

Key elements relevant to the regulations included improved accessibility, energy conservation and fire safety. Maintaining a joined up approach on fire safety was a very important aspect as subsequent phases of work were carried out refurbishing tenant space and other common parts of the building.

The expertise of Salus in this field working closely with Merseyside Fire Service ensured a consistent and compliant fire strategy was applied.
